Dear Parents and Carers,
We have recently completed NAPLAN for students in Grades 3,5, 7 and 9. A big thank you to the teachers, students, and families for ensuring that all students were ready to participate and engage in the NAPLAN assessments. Results will be available to families later in the year.
Teachers will soon be preparing the major reports that will be sent home with students in Week 7 of this term (Monday the 13th to Friday 17th of June). This year there is not the detailed written report. Instead, the report will provide an indication of progress in core learning areas (English, Maths, Science and HASS on a 9-point scale (replacing the A-E from previous years), and for specialist subjects progress will be assessed on a 5 point scale. We will soon be sending a letter home with all students which will outline how to arrange a time to discuss your child’s progress at school.
Senior secondary reports will go home next week.
Student leaders have recently been elected. We are looking at how we can present our student leadership team to their peers and families. We are hopeful that the opportunity to meet as a whole school with families in attendance will soon become a possibility.
Smocks: We have smocks in our Art Room for our smaller students but need some old shirts that we can use as smocks for upper primary and secondary students. If you have some that you are happy to donate, please drop them in to the school office.
Enrolments 2023
We are starting the process of receiving enrolment applications for Kinder and Year 7 in 2023. Priority goes to local area enrolments. For Campania District School this means students who live in our enrolment area, who attend Richmond Primary School, or for those children who already have a sibling who attends Campania District School. Tours of the school are available, and we encourage you to book a tour by contacting the front office.
It was wonderful to see students participating and encouraging each other at yesterday's Cross Country Carnival. Well done to everyone who helped make the day a great success.
Congratulations to the winning house, Churchill.

Term 2 Subject Overview
If you have questions about your child’s learning, please contact their subject teacher, Home Room teacher, or either of our Quality Teaching Coaches – Melitta Smith (Primary) or Kym Johnson (Secondary).
KINDER In Term 2, we have been having a fantastic time enquiring into Minibeasts. As part of this focus, we have been finding out about creatures in our playground environment. Some of the creatures that we have discovered include ants, a preying mantis, grasshopper, moth, ladybird, millipede, wasp and a bug. As part of this focus, we have talked about living and non-living things and we have been matching and sorting objects and animals. We have been researching together through use of the internet and Non-fiction books. Along the way we have been building our skills in Speech and Language, reading, writing and drawing, counting and fine and gross motor. We have talked about the life cycle of creatures such as a frog and a butterfly. We can not wait to visit the Museum to learn more and the Botanical Gardens to observe the changes in the environment as part of our focus on learning about patterns in nature.

PREP/ONE Over the past few weeks we have welcomed Mr Kang who has worked with our class. We have been focusing on Aborigines and their way of life, making comparisons with how we live today. This is an ongoing unit of Science and HASS. In Maths we are looking at place value-writing numbers to 100 and sorting them into 10’s and ones. We have been developing our oral language skills to tell stories, with a focus on characters, problem and setting. We have been writing well structured simple sentences.
|

We are practicing writing persuasive texts, by attempting to convince readers of our point of view. During our Maths lessons we are focusing on place value, addition, subtraction, division as well as ordering small collections of Australian notes and coins according to their value. During our Science lessons we are exploring earth and space; creating constellation craft, and exploring weather. During our HASS lessons we are looking at the past, present, and future and how things like technology has changed over time. During our Health lessons, we are working through the ‘Resilience Program’, where we practice gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness. Additionally, we are working on Zones of Regulation and exploring how eating healthy influences our health and wellbeing.
