Changes to COVID Restrictions
Whole school assemblies are back
Encouragingly, the number of COVID-19 cases in our community are declining. This means that we can now start gradually reintroducing activities – such as whole school assemblies indoors – in a COVID-safe way.
We are excited to welcome back parents and carers at assemblies. All adults must physically distance where practical, and there will be a designated space for parents and carers, separate to students and staff.
All adults, as well as secondary school students, will need to wear face masks. Primary school students can wear a face mask if they choose.
Later this Term we will be holding a Whole School Assembly to present our 2022 student leaders to our school community. Families of our leaders will be invited to attend, as well as those of our Merit Award recipients. Invitations will be sent home shortly.
Launching into Learning (LiL) caps have also been removed, and we’re excited to welcome back more families to our LiL sessions. A reminder that adults will need to wear face masks when indoors.
Our LiL sessions continue to run every Thursday morning, either at school in our Performing Arts Room (PAC) or, sometimes our LiL sessions involve an excursion. More information about our LiL program can be found later in this newsletter.
Please know that sometimes circumstances may change quickly. We will let families know of any changes, and we appreciate your flexibility if activities are cancelled or modified at short notice.
An important reminder, especially as we move closer to cold and flu season, to please continue to stay at home if unwell.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our school office.

Attendance
While it is important to keep your children home if they are unwell, it is equally important for them to attend school consistently when they are well. While most of our students have excellent attendance, we have noticed a slight drop in attendance across the school this year. Every day at school matters as it is hard for students to stay up to date with their learning if they are regularly missing days of school.
Please contact the office if your child is unable to attend school on any given day.
Schools have just started sending out attendance letters for students who have already missed a significant amount of time this year. Where non-attendance becomes a significant and ongoing issue, compulsory conciliation conferences are required to develop a plan to address the barriers to school attendance.
School Tours
I am thoroughly enjoying the opportunities to show families around Campania District School. I invite any families who are considering an enrolment at Campania to call the office to book a tour. This is a great way to learn about our school, the subjects we offer and to see how our school operates every day.
In English, the Grade 8's have been studying the history, social context and impact of discrimination, experienced by many different groups of people. To deepen our understanding we had a visit and Zoom call from the Hobart Human Library, who uses the art of storytelling to break down barriers and build empathy. We heard the stories of John, Katie and Shivangi and were able to also ask questions. This was an invaluable experience and we would like to thank them so much for giving us their time and sharing their stories.
Come and join the fun at our Launching into Learning program!

Nurse Meegan will be focusing on the health effects of tobacco use for this month. Take a moment to look over some facts about the use of tobacco and discuss the affects with your young person. If you would like more information around quitting click on the links provided.
Thank you, families and staff who supported this year's Book Fair, together we helped raise enough money for over $300.00 worth of new books to be added to our school library for students to enjoy.
Campania was well represented at the Inter School Cross Country at Bayview Secondary College on Wednesday. Chosen representatives from our grades 3-6 tried their hardest to compete against twenty other schools. Not only did the students place well in their respective races, but they also displayed sportsmanship, courtesy, and support for each other throughout the day. Well done all involved, including Dale, Mrs Grant and Miss Smith.
Our school photo day will be held on Tuesday 5th July.
