Welcome to Term 3
We have had a wonderful and settled start to Term Three. As I have visited classes I have been impressed with the high levels of engagement with students living our school values of Respect, Resilience and Learning, what we call the Campania Way.
I have been busy meeting with families who are wanting to enrol their children here for Year 7, 2023. It has been fantastic meeting each prospective student and learning more about each of them. We will be notifying families who are out of area a little later in the year as to the outcome of those meetings. Families in our local enrolment area and those who already have a sibling at Campania are considered local enrolments and are guaranteed a place here in 2023.
We are busy with kinder enrolments for 2023 as well. It is important that we hear from you soon, as this will assist with our planning for pre kinder which will occur in Term 4. If you are interested in learning more about the school I encourage you to make a time to meet with me and have a tour of the school. Our Launch into Learning (LiL) program also runs on a Thursday morning and is another way to meet with families in our wider community.
Some of our primary and secondary students have been participating in the Australian Maths Competition. I would like to thank those students for putting their hands up to participate and also Mrs Gatehouse, our Numeracy leader for coordinating this.
This term we also have a group of students completing PISA testing. PISA stands for The Programme for International Student Assessment and is an international assessment measuring student performance in reading, mathematical and scientific literacy. Schools and students are selected at random to participate in PISA testing.
We also have students from Grade 4 to Year 12 participating in the annual Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey. This survey forms part of the Department’s Wellbeing for Learning - Child and
Student Wellbeing Strategy. It helps us get a picture of the current wellbeing of our students, and what we can do to improve future wellbeing. The more students who take part, the clearer our picture will be. We will be sending a letter home with more information about the survey, and families can, if they wish, choose for their children to opt out of the survey. I would like to thank Miss Johnson and Mrs Kingston for all the work involved in coordinating these.
Reclink AFL
Our combined team with students from Campania and Bothwell District School has continued with another strong result earlier this week against the team from Tasman District School. We will be playing in the final at the end of August. We will provide details to families closer to the date. Mr S continues to do a wonderful job managing the team and from all reports our students have represented the school with pride. Good luck Cats in the final!
End of Year Presentation Assembly
We are currently conducting a survey around the timing of our end of year Presentation Assembly. Our aim is to ensure we have the maximum numbers of students and families present for the assembly. Your feedback is appreciated. https://forms.office.com/r/2aSmieHJPm. Paper copies of the survey are available at the front office.
The theme for Book Week this year is Dreaming With Eyes Open. We encourage students to dress up as their favourite book character for the book parade held on Wednesday August 24th at 9:00am. Parents are welcome to join us for the parade.
At the end of last term our student leaders organised a pyjama/free dress day fundraiser, the money raised is being donated to MND research. The Diversity Group also sold cupcakes to celebrate Pride Month. Thank you to all for your kind donations!
On Tuesday July 26, our grade 9 and 10 students had the opportunity to participate in the 2022 Hospitality Showcase which was held at TasTAFE Drysdale Collins Street. The program provided the opportunity for our students to learn more about the hospitality industry. Students rotated through a range of work stations, which included: bar (mocktails), barista, and the kitchen. There was also a presentation from industry experts on pathway planning and training.
