We have recently been reflecting as a school on our growth over the past few years. This has been reflected with positive changes in the way our students are engaging in the playground and classrooms. To support this the school has invested significantly in our outdoor spaces, with improvements including the bike track, swings, additional shelter and climbing equipment. We are currently looking to increase our seating outside and we are looking at how we can redevelop our courtyard area into an outdoor learning space.
Our indoor learning areas have also improved. Our classrooms are bright and vibrant with displays that help our learners make stronger connections with the curriculum. Our teachers continue to learn together in professional learning communities (PLCs) to enhance strategies to improve the learning outcomes for all students.
Every year our students participate in NAPLAN at Grades 3, 5, 7 and 9. Students in Kinder complete the Kinder Development Check and our students from Prep to Year 10 complete PAT Maths and PAT reading assessments. This data is critical in providing a clear picture on how our students are progressing in these key areas. We are currently looking to increase the capacity of all teachers to be teachers of reading, by examining the opportunities that exist in the different learning areas to address the reading requirements specific to those subjects.
It has been wonderful sharing our school with families looking to enrol here in 2023. The feedback from parents is overwhelmingly glowing about the focus on learning they observe as they journey around the school. I encourage families who are still considering an enrolment at Campania (Kinder to Year 12) to contact the office and arrange a meeting and a tour of the school.
I have just visited Richmond Primary School to participate in a Question-and-Answer session with their Grade 5 and 6 students. To support this visit, I invited 6 of our secondary students to attend with me to share their experiences of being a Campania student. I am excited to be building a stronger relationship with Richmond Primary, staff, students, and families.
We are also holding a secondary information evening next Tuesday 20th of September at 6pm. This is for current school families and any families considering an enrolment here. The evening will commence with an outline of what we offer from Years 7-10. A group of our student leaders will conduct school tours between 6:30-7pm and between 7-7:30pm Ms Johnson will be sharing information for families of Year 9 and 10 students about the options for post Year 10. If you are unable to attend, but would like some more information, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
New changes to COVID-19 isolation
Public Health has recently changed the mandatory COVID-19 isolation period from seven days to five days.
This means COVID-19 cases can leave isolation, provided they:
- are no longer displaying symptoms on Day 5 of their isolation period, and
- have had no fever for 24 hours prior to Day 5.
People that leave isolation on or after Day 5 must wear a face mask in all settings for Days 5, 6 and 7 – even if they are not displaying symptoms. People are strongly recommended to wear a face mask indoors on Days 8, 9 and 10.
Students under the age of 12 and all primary school students are not required to wear face masks when leaving isolation.
