Gr 7 STEM - Hydro Tasmania visit
On Tuesday 13th September we had Gina from Hydro Tasmania visit the Year 7 STEM class. She was able to share with students some information about energy generation, particularly hydroelectricity. She provided different activities for the students to participate in, including a turbine stand design challenge. There were other energy generators for the students to play with and even some energy sticks. I think they had fun.
Visit from 'The Good Human Factory'
Thanks to Cooper from The Good Human Factory who presented to our secondary students this week. Cooper is a pro surfer who shared some simple tips to help look after our mental health. Cooper also has a podcast called Good Humans that is worth checking out! Thanks to Triabunna District School for getting us on board and thanks to our students for being such respectful listeners!
Prep/1 enjoyed a healthy morning tea last Wednesday when the children got to try some foods they haven’t tasted before. Rice crackers, boiled egg and Kiwi fruit were a big hit! Well done Prep/1 for tasting new things. Tanya Ahokas.
This term the 1/2 class had a morning tea to try new and healthy foods. A lot of students were dubious to eat different coloured and textured foods but were pleasantly surprised to find that they enjoyed the taste, and even went back for seconds! Although not everything was a hit, it was lovely to see students be brave and give something new a go. Emily Woolley.
In Term 3 Grade 8s have been learning about cells, tissues, organs and systems in Biology. They enjoyed consolidating their understanding in doing a Cane toad dissection.
The Grade 9s have been learning how body systems work in coordination. They have applied their knowledge by also undertaking a range of dissections.
