Principal Report
I am pleased to advise students, parents and carers, and our broader school community that the outcome of Campania District School’s Acting Principal position has been finalised. Starting in Term Two, we welcome Angela Burbury.
At the time of writing this newsletter we are nearing the completion of NAPLAN. Students and staff have been working hard to do their best and we appreciate their efforts. School photos were taken on the 14 March. The school’s Athletics Carnival on the 7 March was a great success and the weather held off. We now have the SPSSA interschool primary and secondary Athletic Carnivals coming up. We have small but talented teams representing Campania District School at these events. Best wishes are extended to one and all.
We will be issuing reports in Week 8 for Prep-10 and Grade 11/12 reports went home yesterday. These will be tick box indicators. A cover letter will be provided to explain what will be happening this year.
Please be aware that the school will be undergoing its four year External School Review. This takes place over two days in the final week of Term One.
We look forward to finishing the term with positivity and great teaching and learning outcomes.

During week 5, the Grade 8 Home Group attended a two night camp at Fortescue Bay with Miss Cep, Mr. Scanlan-Bloor and Dale. After arriving, we undertook a 8km hike to Cape Huay. It was challenging at times and students had to draw upon resilience to make it to the end. The view of Cape Huay was spectacular and some even saw caves and seals swimming in the ocean below. Once back at camp, students set-up their tents, assisted with cooking dinner and played a game of spotlight. Some students learnt the hard way to keep their tent closed, with possums and wallabies trying to come in for a visit.
The next day students chose to either fish or swim, donning wetsuits and googles to peer at life under the water. Those that were fishing learnt a valuable lesson from Mr. S about sustainability, to ensure they were only catching fish that were the right size. Later we went on a rock-pool-ramble, checked out the ship wreck and played board games back at camp. That night, spotlight had upped the stakes, with one student diving, unknowingly, into a spikey bush. First aid was received with laughter and this student then re-joined the game. That night, one tent was left unzipped with possums making a nice home during the night, and Miss Cep had a 2am prank wake-up call, which was not appreciated at the time.
The next day, after breakfast and packing down the tents, students were reminded to “leave no trace” and pick up any loose lolly wrappers from their time away. On the road to lunch at Dunalley put quite a few to sleep, with one student hanging over their seat into the aisle at one point. After lunch and a quick fishing expedition, we returned once more to Campania District School. All of us a bit dirty, tired and full of laughs and memories that will last a life time.
The 3-12 Athletics Day was a windy but wonderful event.
There was an amazing sea of red and blue students (and staff) with huge participation rates and efforts on the day. Thank you to those community members who came along to support the students and to all staff who made the day a success.
Laburnum won the day with a total of 1235 points and Churchill with 1051.
